Letter from The Chairperson

Hello everyone and welcome to 2020.

I really don’t know how to put in writing what I think of the current state of affairs.

I hope everyone is well and you are coping with the situation mentally, physically and financially.

Obviously sport, which includes motorcycling, has been suspended. This has given our leaders time to prepare for tackling this virus. So far their approach seems to be working well. When crowd based events will be able to start again soon is anyone’s guess. Hopefully if everyone takes up the App this may speed the process up and we will be able to hold events in a couple of months.

Finding dates to be able to run a series is becoming extremely difficult with the season getting shorter. National and State titles are still to be run, other Series’ and Club’s, all wanting to still run their events, the committee had to make the decision to cancel the Riverina Interclub Challenge series for this year 2020. It was just too hard to organise with no clear start time. This was a very difficult decision to make, however felt that we needed to make it earlier rather than later.

The RIC is not giving up on you; our riders, our clubs or our very important Sponsors, who have make our series the envy of every other series in our country. The RIC has now run continuously since 1993 Leaping Log Enduro and 1996 Wanabrook MX. (Wanabrook stands for WA Wagga NA Narrandera and BROOK Holbrook the founding clubs of our series.)

The RIC plans to hold four motocross events: Tumbarumba-Holbrook-Leeton and Wagga and an Enduro event at Wagga. These events will not be Interclub events; they will be run as a club event by the hosting club. You will be required to become a club member on the day but there will be no membership cost if you are already a member of a RIC affiliated club member.

If the restrictions are lifted early enough there will be an enduro at Holbrook as well. The order, dates and how these events are going to be held are yet too finalised. These will all depend on when the restrictions are lifted and what restrictions (if any) will still be enforced on us by numbers at gatherings.

Trophies will be awarded at each event for Juniors and Seniors. There will be giveaway draws but NO END OF YEAR PRESENTATION.

Standby for dates to be announced as soon as restrictions are lifted for racing events to start.

Please keep following all travel restrictions and social distancing regulations that are still in place so we can beat this virus and get back to the sport and life we all love.

Stay safe and I hope to see you all sometime before the end of year.
